Embassy of Albania opens doors to broad public

For 9 consecutive years, in the framework of Passport DC, the embassies accredited in Washington DC have opened their doors to the broad public. One of the most successful events of Passport DC is “Around the world embassy tour. In its ninth edition, this tour passed through Albania for the first time.

The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Washington DC opened its doors at 10 AM on Saturday morning and remained opened to the public for six hours, during which over 9000 Washingtonians (and not only) visited the Embassy. During this event the visitors had the opportunity to see an exhibition on the tourism resources of the country (photos, videos, brochures), become acquainted with the local culture through an exhibition of costumes and through our songs and dances, and had a glimpse of the culinary tradition of the country through small tasting snacks (meatballs, cheese, olives) and our traditional drink, raki. In addition to its human and financial resources, the Embassy was supported by the Albanian community in DC and Philadelphia and who contributed volunteers, beverages, music and dancing. Albania's tourism potential, the diversity of its traditional costumes, and its cuisine evoked a tremendous interest in visitors, most of whom left with the refrain "Albania is on the list of places I want to visit." Those present were also encouraged to speak some Albanian words and participate in traditional dances.
