On the week of the high level meetings of the 76th session of the General Assembly, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, and the Albanian delegation, followed by the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi and the Albanian Ambassador to the UN, Besiana Kadare, met with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
Minister Xhaçka emphasized that Albania strongly believes in the role of multilateral diplomacy, while expressing the readiness to cooperate with Guterres to advance the common priorities during Albania's mandate in the Security Council.

On 18 September 2016, Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati visited Boston. During this visit he held a conversation with representatives of the Albanian Diaspora in Boston, organized in collaboration with the Center for International Development at Harvard University.

The Conference of Albanian Ambassadors took place in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 12th – 15th. This event gathered the heads of diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Albania abroad.
 
This Conference serves as a platform for exchange of information and ideas as well as raises awareness on some important issues related to the Albanian foreign policy, regional developments and international arena.
 

Albanian delegation headed by Prime Minister Edi Rama, part of which also were the Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati and Minister of Internal Affairs Saimir Tahiri, held a meeting with the President of the United States Barak Obama and the Vice President Joe Biden.
