November 30th, 2022 - An Albanian Gala Event in Athens

On November 30th 2022, in honour of the 110th Anniversary of Independence and the 78th Anniversary of the Liberation of the country, the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Athens held a Gala Event at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, for greek and international friends of Albania in Athens.

The event was honored by the presence of the members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Greece, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, Minister of Development and Investments, Mr. Kostas Tsiaras, Minister of Justice, Mr. Kostas Skrekas, Minister of Environment and Energy, members of the Greek Parliament, former central and local government officials, the Governor of Attica Region, Mr. Giorgos Patoulis, Mayor of Mykonos, Mr. Konstandinos Koukas, Vice-Governor of the Central Region of Athens, Mr. Giorgos Dimopoulos, Vice-Governor of Crete, Mr. Kostas Fasoulakis, representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Greece, head of the Chambers of Commerce of Athens, Piraeus and Tirana, as well as distinguished personalities from the field of art and culture.

In her opening speech, the Ambassador of the Republic of Albaniain Greece, Mrs. Luela Hajdaraga thanked the attendees for their presence at this joyful day for the Albanian people and invited them to enjoy a festive event, consisted of art, culture and traditional Albanian dishes. Furthermore, Ambassador Hajdaraga expressed her appreciation for the high level relations between the two countries and the common will to further deepen them, for the benefit of the people of these two neighboring countries.

The festive event was greeted, via a video message, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Nikos Dendias, as well as the Minister of Development and Investments of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis.

This year's organization, focusing on Economic Diplomacy, offered a taste of Albanian food and drinks, folk costumes, souvenirs and touristic sites of Albania. A magical atmosphere was created bythe violin sounds of the virtuoso Olen Çesari, accompanied by the singer Lavinia Mancusi as well as the brilliant voice of the talented singer, Marsela Çibukaj. The special guest of the evening, greek singer Glykeria, performed songs in both languages and creating an electric atmosphere. A special touch for this anniversary was the performance of Albanian and Greek dances by the talented Albanian dancers of the corps de ballet of Athens with the participation of the well-known Albanian ballet dancer Danilo Zeka. Another traditional touch to the event, was offered by Albanian girls dressed in folk costumes, prepared with special care from Mrs. Edlira Sulaj, president of ‘‘Tradita Popullore’’ in Tirana.
