The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, was part of the meeting of the National Council for European Integration, where she spoke about the progress of the EU integration process.
Minister Xhaçka emphasized that our country’s achievements have been unanimously accepted by 27 EU countries and that Albania continues to remain a collateral damage of the dispute between Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
“The Albanian government has continued the implementation of the ambitious program of comprehensive reforms, fulfilling all the requirements from the Council for holding the first Intergovernmental Conference. This means that we have done our homework in regards to the electoral reform, justice reform, the fight against organized crime and corruption, reforms related to respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, etc. The conditions were met and this was acknowledged and evaluated by the Commission’s report, in October 2021, and also by all member states. In this way, we have proven ourselves as a reliable partner of the EU “, said Minister Xhaçka.
The Albanian chief diplomat said that Albania will continue to offer its full support to the EU, even during its mandate as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2022-2023.
