Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati took part in the third inter-ministerial meeting between Greece, Albania, Bulgaria and Macedonia in Thessaloniki, on 3 – 4 May 2018, with the participation of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Ministers of Infrastructure of the four countries. Minister Bushati held a meeting with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias with whom he reflected on the progress achieved up to now regarding the negotiations between both countries in Crete and Korça. They acknowledged the successful completion of a part of components of the package and expressed their commitment to keep up the same pace to bring about sustainable solutions to agreed issues.
Minister Bushati praised the progress achieved at the negotiating team meeting last week, as well as expressed optimism about the next meeting to be held in Athens.
The head of Albanian diplomacy underlined that some issues which were finally agreed upon, were already being implemented. The work still continues in negotiating the rest of the package, such as the recognition of driving licences or delimitation of maritime zones and land border.
Minister Bushati informed that there will be another meeting with his counterpart Kotzias to discuss the progress, as Greece is an important strategic country for Albania and plays a special role in the region.
