The Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Mrs. Artemis Malo, at the High-Level Segment of the 40th Session of the Human Rights Council highlighted the important role of the Human Rights Council in promoting human rights, which is the proper to look at what we can achieve together on human rights, and for the development of multilateralism, in the face of the conflicts, difficulties and challenges that we face today.
Consolidating good governance, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law with strong, are a strategic priorities for Albania. The implementation of a comprehensive and thorough justice reform, aiming to establish an accountable, independent and efficient justice system that will deliver an equitable justice to citizens.
Deputy Minister pointed out that Albania will undergo the Universal Periodic Review for the third time in May 2019. This process is a valuable exercise in taking stock of where we stand on the implementation of our commitments, in engaging in constructive and inclusive process on implementation, in integrating human rights in development policies, in viewing progress and areas where more needs to be done.
Albania will continue to advocate and contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights. We will continue to join multilateral efforts to protecting human rights, peace, security and fight against extremism. In that respect the international community and the states need to work together to further improve human rights, for the well-being of our peoples.
