Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati is attending the Third Conference on Security and Stability in Rhodes.Foreign ministers from European and Arab countries from both sides of the Mediterranean will attend this annual forum for dialogue, regarding the security challenges in the eastern Mediterranean.
In his remarks, Minister Bushati focused on the need for cooperation between countries in facing current security challenges. According to Minister Bushati, multilateralism is becoming more and more questionable while international and regional organizations, once the forums of cooperation, are being highly objected.
Bushati underlined the need for strengthened and creative cooperation to cope with the security challenges that have been present for a long time.
“We have a new dynamics on migration issues since sources of conflict have not yet been addressed as unfortunately selfishness is prevalent in tackling this issue, while placing the so much needed solidarity in the second plan,” stressed the minister.
To the head of Albanian diplomacy, foreign policy has a natural connection with history and economic development. “But,” he continued, “it is time to address security challenges in order to demonstrate that foreign policy is governed by some common moral values.”
During the proceedings of this conference, Minister Bushati and his Greek counterpart, Nikos Kotzias, will have a meeting during which they will discuss the progress of the dialogue between the two countries.
