The Ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Greece, Mrs. Luela Hajdaraga held a meeting with the Mayor of the island of Kos, Mr. Theodhosis Nikitaras. The warm and friendly conversation, in the presence of the local media, focused mainly on the Albanian community on the island, issues of integration and coexistence, as well as their more active involvement in local developments.

Ambassador Hajdaraga, thanking for the hospitality, appreciated the fact of the existence of a significant number of Albanian citizens on the island of Kos, with significant contributions to the local economy. In this regard, she emphasized the need to speed up the residence permit procedures as well as the inclusion of Albanian citizens in the Municipal Council.

In this meeting it was also discussed about:

- Preservation and promotion of the Albanian language as well as the cultural and historical heritage;

- Seasonal employees in the tourism sector;

- Twinning of Tirana-Kos Municipalities;

- Opportunities to increase cooperation between Tirana-Kos municipalities at the local government level and areas of mutual interest;

- Exchange of the best experiences in the field of culture and tourism.
