The flag installation ceremony was held today at the UN, where the Albanian flag was raised as the country started its mandate as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the period 2022-2023.
The Permanent Representative of Albania to the UN, Ferit Hoxha mentioned that Albania is determined to play an active and constructive role by carrying out our values and principles to the work of the Council.
“Albania believes in multilateralism, international law and in a strong rules and values based multilateral system as the cornerstone of world security. We are here to work with other like-minded countries to be a force for good, to make our voice heard in the name of progress and try to make a difference. We come here with the strong belief and resolve that the Council must do more; take firmer action, support those in need in every corner of the world” said ambassador Hoxha during his speech.
Albania has been elected for the first time as non-permanent member of the Security Council for the period 2002- 2023.
Starting from 1 january 2022, Albania will sit for two years at one of the fifteen seats of the Security Council dealing with management of peace and international security.
