At a special event, organized in the presence of Foreign Minister of Albania Ditmir Bushati, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo Enver Hoxhaj, Bavarian Minister for European Affairs Mrs. Beate Merk, Rifat Jashari and other officials, Albania and Kosovo inaugurated their joint General Consulate in Munich, Germany.

This new Consulate will provide services to citizens of the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Kosovo, in modern premises and in a shorter time frame, thus improving the quality of services offered.

This Consulate will cover the Lander of Bavaria (Bayern), Baden-Württemberg, Rheinland-Pfalz and Saarland. Over 30% of citizens of both countries living in Germany can benefit from the services and assistance of the consulate. Moreover, the opening of the General Consulate will also boost bilateral, political, diplomatic, economic and cultural relations with Lander within its jurisdiction.

The opening of the Joint Consulate is part of the Strategic Partnership between our two countries, which is being reinforced day by day, through concrete actions. It follows the Joint Consulate in Milan and the provision of consular services in Bari, with a view to extend this practice in other countries of mutual interest. It is an indicator of the advancement of coordinated actions of the countries’ foreign policy, aiming at improving consular services for citizens of Albania and Kosovo.

This joint representation is a modern form of mutual assistance for our citizens abroad, and at the same time, an expression of the very good relations between our two countries and Germany, a host of large immigrant communities from the Republic of Albania and Kosovo.

In their speech, ministers Bushati and Hoxhaj underlined that: "The Consulate is an important step in the framework of strategic partnership between the two countries and a clear indication of our work and willingness to be closer to our fellow citizens, by offering them qualitative and transparent services".
