“I speak Albanian” photo exhibition launches activities held in the framework of first Diaspora Summit

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and National Art Gallery organized today, at the National Art Gallery hall, the inauguration ceremony of the “I speak Albanian” photo exhibition, with prominent figures of the Albanian diaspora over the years, shot by artist Roland Tasho.

This exhibition is the first in a series of activities which will take place in the framework of the first Diaspora Summit, to be held in Tirana on 18-20 November 2016.

"The Diaspora Summit will be held by the Albanian government for the first time and will serve as a dialogue platform among Albanians, to restore and better shape relations between the Albanian Community living abroad and their home country. Through this summit, we would like to come up with concrete commitments which unite forces, ideas and people in comprehensive development projects for the Albanian language, culture and society” Minister Bushati highlighted.

Focusing on the importance of this exhibition, Minister Bushati stated that: “Roland Tasho’s photo exhibition somehow enables us to meet with members of the Albanian diaspora over the years. It is an echo, not only for well-known people, but also common ones, those who have an ordinary job, who work and live away from the camera lens, but who are the best example of Albania’s representation in the world, reflecting and conveying the best values of our nation.”

Minister Kumbaro noted the work of photographer Roland Tasho in illustrating this important part of Albanians, who represent the values of our country in the world and praised the cooperation between the two ministries in this regard.

The exhibition is a result of a nearly 20-year experience of photographer Roland Tasho, who has documented Albanians all over the world, by shooting around 1000 characters. The exhibition “I speak Albanian” will be on display at the National Art Gallery, the National Historical Museum and the Center for Openness and Dialogue at the Prime Minister’s Office, from 12-20 November 2016.
