Mr. President,
Excellencies,

During these last days we have been through a particular moment in history. World eyes have been concentrated in New York with a justified hope that the Summit on the Global Goals and a reflection on the course
of the world today while marking the 70th anniversary of the UN, would produce some good news. We can happily admit, there was good news. We have approved a bold, ambitious, transformative development agenda designed to change the world for good by 2030.

Remarks by H.E. Mr. Edi Rama Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania - Leaders’ Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism - United Nations, 29 September 2015

I am the leader of a country Albania, which, for all the problems we face, has made great strides in showing what a harmonious multi-faith nation can be. The highlight of my Premiership so far was a visit to our capital city by the Pope.

So, as people of all faiths and none came out to welcome Pope Francis, I was proud to be Albanian, I was proud to be from the Balkans, too.
