The Social Progress Index 2014 Report new report rates Albania 48th out of 132 countries in terms of quality of life and social progress. Among countries in the region, Croatia came top in the region in 36th position - one place behind Greece, in 35th place.
Albania was one of the 46 cosponsors of the draft resolution tabled by the United States at the Security Council meeting on 15 March 2014 "on the situation of Ukraine". The draft resolution reaffirmed the council’s commitment to Ukraine’s “sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity” and declared a planned referendum on the status of Ukraine's Crimea region illegal, invalid and with no effect. The draft resolution supported by 13 SC members States.
