Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Colleagues,

Good afternoon to all and thank you indeed for being here today with us.

1. I am pleased, together with Norway and in collaboration with the UNDG, to be the co-host of this meeting and share with you some ideas and, I hope, stimulate a discussion in order for the UN Development System to adapt, and fully engage into the new programme environment, the Post 2015 or the SDG driven world.

Allow me first to thank you for organizing this open debate on the respect to the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and for the interesting concept note in preparing it. Thank you Madame President,

Allow me to first congratulate you for convening this High Level Meeting on the World Summit of Information Society.

Albania welcomes the adoption of the outcome document of the review and would like to sincerely thank the co-facilitators for their efforts throughout the process.

Nowadays, one of the biggest challenges is how to be more responsive to the dynamics of the globalization and a strong, fast, open and free Information Society is one of the keys.

60th Anniversary of membership to the United Nations

On 14 December 1955, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 995 (X) deciding to admit Albania as a member of the United Nations.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary of UN membership the Permanent Mission of Albania to the United Nations and the permanent missions of 15 other countries admitted the same day to the United Nations, hosted a lunch for the UN Secretary-General.
