Statement by H.E. Ms. Besiana Kadare, Permanent Representative of Albania to the UN at the Security Council Debate on Women, Peace and Security: Twentieth Anniversary of Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000)- Focusing on Better Implementation

Mr. President,
Albania commends the efforts of many Member States and partners for putting in place solid normative frameworks and commitments on the women, peace and security agenda, as demonstrated by the increase in the number of National Action Plans for the implementation of UNSC Resolution 1325. However, we strongly believe that effective implementation is not possible without the allocation of proper resources.

Albania takes Vice-Presidency of 75th session of UN General Assembly

Albania has been elected Vice-President of the 75th session of United Nations General Assembly.
Albania’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Besiana Kadare, was congratulated for this achievement by Albanian President, Ilir meta.
“The appointing of Albania as Vice-President for the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly is a great opportunity for a decent representation of our country in this important global institution”, the President said.

Albania aligns itself with the statement of the European Union, and I wish to add the following remarks in my national capacity.
 
At the outset I would like to thank the briefers from the civil society who bring their valuable perspective in this Chamber, and also the Secretary General for his thorough report analyzing the implementation of Resolution 1325.

Thank you, Madam. Chair for giving me the floor,
 
At the outset, we would like to thank Administrator Steiner for his insightful and structured Report on the results of UNDP for 2018. We commend the Administrator for the strong leadership in transitioning the Agency to its new role within the UN Development System.  UNDP is pushing the boundaries in how it thinks, delivers, invests and manages to drive progress across the six signature solutions of the Strategic Plan, helping so the achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals.
