Ambassador ILIR BOÇKA previously served as Director General for Bilateral Relation in the Ministry of Foreign Relation ,Tirana , September 2010- July 2014 . Prior to this he was Head of Mission of the Republic of Albania in New Delhi (January 2008- September 2010), He served also as Ambassador of the Albanian Mission to NATO and as the Representative of Republic of Albania to Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) from November 2000 until July 2007. During the period May 1998 – August 2000, he was appointed as Deputy Minister of Defense, responsible principally for Albania’s Euro-Atlantic integration and the country’s preparations for NATO membership.
Ilir Boçka joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in June 1981, when he was appointed as the Head of the Press and Information Directory at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the period from 1986 until 1990, Ilir Boçka served as Ambassador to the former German Democratic Republic (GDR). After the democratic changes during the period June 1991- December 1991, he was appointed as Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Following the first free elections held in Albania, he was appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Provisional Government (December 1991 – April 1992).
During the period 1992-1997, Ilir Boçka worked as a lawyer and consultant in the private sector on National and International Law matters. During October 1997- May 1998, Ilir Boçka joined the Prime Minister’s Office as the Director of Information and Media Department.
Prior to the career in the Albanian MFA, Ilir Boçka worked as journalist with theAlbanian News Agency (ATA).
Ilir Boçka graduated with a Law Degree in 1975 from University of Tirana.
He is fluent in German, French, English and Italian.
He is married with Mrs. Aferdita Boçka and both have two sons ,
