Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilir Meta arrives in official visit to Portugal

On 10-12 May 2010 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilir Meta held an official visit in Portugal. During this visit he was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Mr. Luis Amado.

The focus of the meeting were the very good political cooperation between the two countries , Albania's European integration, liberalization of visa regime with EU for the Albanian citizens and Western Balkans conference in Sarajevo.

Albanian Embassy in Lisbon hosted the opening of the Albanian painter Esmeralda Fetahu

On the last week of March 2010, the Albanian Embassy in Lisbon, in collaboration with the Portuguese Company "Domus Concept", specialized in architecture and other artistic events, organized the opening of a painting exhibition of about 25 works, titled "Metaphor ". The artist is the Albanian painter, Ms. Esmerlada Fetahu, who lives since two years in Lisbon. This is the second exhibition that the Albanian painter opens in Lisbon, in a span of 8-9 months, while 10 exhibits were opened before in Italy by Ms. Fetahu.

Ambassador Edmond Trako took part at the ceremony of the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty

On 01.12.2009 Ambassador Edmond Trako attended the ceremony, on the occasion of the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon, in Lisbon, signed at the same city two years ago.

The ceremony was attended by the President of Portugal, Cavaco Silva, President of Chile, Prime Ministers of Spain, Sweden and Portugal, as well as the highest authorities of the European Union, European Council President Herman Van Rompey, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and European Parliament President, Buzek Jersey.

On 24 of September2009 Ambassador Edmond TRAKO presented the Credentials to the President of Portugal, Mr. Anibal Cavaco Silva. The ceremony was organized in Lisbon, at the Presidential Palace "Belem".

The Secretary of State for European Affairs, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, General Director of State Protocol joined the ceremony and were part of the meeting between the president of Portugal and Ambassador Trako.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry Portugal - Albania

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Portugal - Albania (Câmara de Comercio e Indústria Luso - Albanesa) established on 6 of April 2010 in Lisbon, Portugal, is the first institution witch primary goal is to connect the two countries' markets, promoting the development of the trade missions and to boost bilateral industrial competitiveness of products in the European market .

Portugal in Albania

Portugal does not have an embassy in the Republic of Albania. Portugal covers the diplomatic relations with Albania through the Embassy of Portugal in Rome.

The ambassador of Portugal to Italy, is also the Non-Resident Ambassador of Portugal to Albania.

RELAÇÕES ALBÂNIA – PORTUGAL

As relações diplomáticas entre o nosso país e Portugal estão localizados a 22 Junho de 1977. Os dois países são normalmente representados por embaixadores não residentes, respectivamente em Paris e Roma.

Em 2009, a Albânia, pela primeira vez , abriu a sua embaixada em Lisboa. Em 24.09.2009, o Sr. Embaixador Edmond Trako apresentou as Cartas Credenciais, ao Presidente de Portugal, o Sr. Anibal Cavaco Silva.
