Ambassador TRAKO held a meeting with the President of the European Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of Portugal

On October 31, 2013 Ambassador Edmond TRAKO held a meeting with the President of the Committee for European Affairs at Parliamentary Assembly of Portugal, Mr. Paolo Motta Pinto.

Mr. Trako exposed to Mr. Pinto the official statement of Albania after the release of the Progress Report of the European Commission. The Albanian Government considers this report a clear objective reflection of the status of the achievements of reforms related to the fulfillment of the 12 key priorities of the Opinion, a realistic assessment and recognition of the efforts and achievements of the Albanian society on the path towards European integration. The Albanian Government is aware of the fact that, further progress is needed to meet the priorities identified by the progress report, to enable the opening of the negotiations and the ruling majority is showing readiness to have a more constructive and sustained dialogue with the opposition.

President of the Committee for European Affairs, said that he praises the performance of Portugal - Albania bilateral relations, which are intensified, in particular after the opening of the Albanian Embassy in Lisbon. Regarding the Progress Report, he stressed that Portugal has always been in favor of EU enlargement with the countries of the Western Balkans, and of course is looking forward to see Albania in EU in the near future.
