Charity Concert

On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the creation of the Symphonia Foundation, the Hungarian MP, Mrs. Catalin Csöbör, organized a ceremony in the Parliament that brought together the First Lady, Mrs. Anita Herczegh, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Hungary, representatives of the Diplomatic Spouses of Budapest (DSB), MPs, Foundation’s leaders, and children supported by this Foundation. This year, the Symphonia Foundation was selected by the DSB to be supported with part of the funds raised by the Diplomatic Fair. In her speech, Mrs. Katalin Csöbör thanked the participants and especially Mrs. Herczegh and DSB for the support they provide to communities in need. Mrs. Elda Spasse, in her capacity of President of DSB, thanked Ms. Csöbör and the Director of the Foundation, dr. András Kupper, for their dedication to helping Roma children.

The Symphonia Foundation works with 1800 children, mainly of Roma origin, in 22 localities spread throughout Hungary. Through a program inspired by the "El Sistema" and "Kodály" methods and with the help of 100 qualified teachers the children are taught daily to play musical instruments. After playing the first clear note the children get a seat in Foundation’s orchestra. Mos of them will not end up as musicians, but the teachers encourage all of them to continue and complete their school education. Those who are talented in music are encouraged towards a musical career.
