China Brand Fair 2019

The opening ceremony of China Brand Fair 2019 was held in Budapest today. The fair, which will be opened to the public from 3rd till 5th of June, has already become a tradition. It aims to foster the establishment of links among businesses from Central and Eastern Europe and from various provinces of China. Ambassador Spasse attended the ceremony and had the pleasure to meet with some Albanian businessmen. This year, with the initiative of the Embassy, the fair is being visited by 27 representatives of Albanian businesses, members of the Chamber of Commerce of Gjirokastra.

All attention to Diaspora

After concluding the official part of the visit, Acting Foreign Minister Cakaj met with members and students of the Albanian community from Albania and Kosovo, as well as with Hungarian friends. He learned about their activities and their interests in Hungary and also informed them on the work of the government to attract their contribution and knowledge. He also informed the participants about the efforts of the MEFA to facilitate consular services for the Albanian citizens in the country and overseas through "My Embassy" application, launched recently.

Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Gent Cakaj official visit in Budapest

Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Gent Cakaj, paid an official visit to Budapest upon invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó. Discussions focused on the process of European integration, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Acting Minister Cakaj, expressing his appreciation for Hungary's support for Albania in the European integration process, informed Minister Szijjártó with the progress made towards meeting the five key priorities.

On 6-7 May, a delegation headed by Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, Chair of the Parliamentary Foreign Policy Commission, and composed by Mr. Paulin Stërkaj, member of the Parliamentary Commission on Security Issues, and Mrs. Ediola Braha, member of the Committee on European Integration Affairs, paid a working visit to Hungary, upon invitation of the Chairman of the Hungarian Parliamentary Foreign Policy Commission, Mr. Zsolt Németh. During the visit, the Albanian delegation had also meetings with the Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, Mr.

The 'Week of Albania" in Hungary

The Embassy of Albania and the Embassy of Norway in Budapest organized a joint activity attended by colleagues of the diplomatic corps, Hungarian friends and members of the Albanian community living in Hungary. The purpose of this activity, which took place at the residence of the Norwegian Ambassador, was to promote Albania as a tourist and cultural destination and to mark the 250th anniversary of the expedition of two Hungarian scientists to Norway (to observe the passage of planet Venus in front of the Sun - 1769).

Holocaust Remembrance Day

On the occasion of the Holocaust Remembrance Day, the documentary "BESA" (The Promise) was screened at the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest. The event came as a joint activity of Albania’s and Israeli’s embassies and ELTE University. Screening was followed by a conversation with ELTE and Lauder school students. During the introduction of the documentary and the conversation with students, Ambassador Spasse noted that none of the six million Jews killed during Second World War lost its life in Albania.

The "Week of Albania" in Hungary

The "Week of Albania" in Hungary was opened yesterday with an event at the Vértes Agora cultural center in the town of Tatabánya. The event aimed at promoting Albania as a tourist destination, as well as to acquaint participants with the efforts the country is making on the path towards European integration. Along with the promotional videos, the photos of 2018 Edition of Colors of Albania were exhibited in the center. The Mayor of Tatabánya, Mr. Csaba Schmidt, and the Director of the Vértes Agora Center, Mr. Hugo Salamon, were among the distinguished guests.

Cooperation between Albania-Hungary

In the framework of #Albania's Week in Hungary, we met today with the representatives of Vértes Agorája from Tatabánya. An exhibition with photos of 2018 Edition of Colors of Albania, as well as a presentation on Albania's path towards EU integration will take place on 26 April in Tatabánya.

Cooperation in Culture

It was a pleasure to receive today Mr.Krisztián Csaplár-Degovics, historian, and discuss with him on Albanian and Hungarians intersections throughout centuries. A new book on this topic will be published soon and we look very much forward reading it.

Economic Cooperation

In the framework of Economic Diplomacy, Ambassador Spasse met with Mr. Attila Galambos, President of the Western Balkans Committee in the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with Ms. Maria Stark, Director for International Affairs and Ms. Anna Szekeres, Area Manager. Discussion focused on the Nest Festival that will take place in Tirana on 24-25 October, on establishing partnerships in the energy sector and on Albania as an FDI destination.
