Telecom World 2019

Telecom World 2019 is taking place in Budapest from 9 till 12 September. Hosted by the Government of Hungary, the event focuses on innovation, policy and strategy for smarter digital development. This event is a global platform for leaders, policymakers, experts and investors to meet and share knowledge and network at the highest level. The audience was greeted through a video-message by the UN Secretary General António Guterres, and by the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán. Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Mrs. Dorina Çinari, represents Albania in this event.

In the framework of Economic Diplomacy, Ambassador Spasse and First Secretary, Ilir Qorri, met with the CEO of Bonafarm Group, Attila Csanyi, and the Director for Sectoral Regulation, Mr. Attila Tóth. Bonafarm is one of the largest companies in Hungary operating in Agriculture and food processing. Some of its products, such as sausages, chicken and wine, can be found in the Albanian market, as well. The meeting aimed at discussing opportunities for expanding cooperation and establishing partnerships.27.06.2019

Ambassador Spasse met with Mr. Bence Vinko, Managing Director of Epam for Hungary, and discussed with him on Albania’s efforts to attract FDI. They talked on the ways to promote and present the country, taking the Hungarian experience and that of some other countries. Epam is the biggest complex software development service provider of Central and Eastern Europe, established in 1993. The company’s headquarters are in the US. In Hungary the company has approximately 1,600 employees and operates in Budapest, Szeged and Debrecen.

Bringing closer Albanians and Hungarians

We received at the Embassy the well-known Albanian photographer Roland Tasho and discussed on his latest project. This project aims at promoting through pictures some of the most successful Albanians living in Hungary. We take this opportunity to thank Mr. Tasho, the Minister of Diaspora, Mr. Pandeli Majko, and the Embassy of Hungary in Tirana for supporting this project that brings closer Albanians and Hungarians.

Cooperation between Albania-Hungary

Ambassador Spasse and WHO Director in Hungary, Dr. Ledia Lazeri, visited the Hungarian Institute of Cardiology "Gottsegen Gyorgy" upon invitation of the General Director, Dr. Peter Andreka. The conversation focused on the possibilities of co-operation with a similar structure in Albania. Establishing such cooperation would bring an added value to the bilateral relations in the healthcare area, and, in a more tangible aspect, it would offer Albanian citizens more options in treating heart diseases.

Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme

Upon invitation of the Dean of Szent István University (Gödöllő), Prof. h.c. Dr. Jozsef Káposzta, Ambassador Spasse attended the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. Approximately 500 students received their diploma and among them the Albanian student Xhensila Veshaj from Gjirokastra. We wish her and all the students good luck and lots of success in the future.

Ambassador Spasse had a courtesy meeting at the headquarters of OTP Bank where he met with the CEO, Mr. Csányi Sándor. During the meeting they discussed on the experience of OTP branch in Albania and its plans for the future. Both shared the view that the presence of OTP in the country can encourage other Hungarian investors to consider Albania as a destination for their activities.

Cultural Cooperation between Albania & Hungary

After a successful experience at the International Folk Festival 2019 in Pecs, the artists of the Cultural Center "Margarita Tutulani" paid a visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Budapest. Their talent, combined with the energy and positive feedback from this visit to Hungary, created a pleasant and impressive atmosphere. Our respect and the gratitude of the Albanian community in Hungary go to the artists and Cultural Center "Margarita Tutulani" for their distinguished representation.

"The South Gate" International Folklore Festival

Ambassador Spasse visited the city of Pecs where "The South Gate" International Folklore Festival is taking place from 6 to 9 June. He was pleased to meet with artists of the "Margarita Tutulani" Cultural Centre in Berat, with the organizers of the festival, as well as with the MP, Dr. Péter Hoppál. The high quality performances of the Albanian artists in the main square and further on the open stage earned the heartfelt applause of the spectators. We were pleased to receive at the Embassy 27 representatives of Albanian businesses, members of Gjirokastra Chamber of Commerce, who are in Budapest to visit the China Brand Fair 2019. We discussed on the economic relations between Albania and Hungary and the possibilities of cooperation between Albanian, Hungarian and Chinese businesses.
