Announcement on visa regime for foreign citizens visiting the Republic of Albania


Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announces that, with the Decision of the Council of Minister No. 90, date 27.02.2019, on “Definition of criteria, procedures, and documentation for entry, stay and treatment of foreigners in the Republic of Albania”, citizens from Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Qatar, Oman, Thailand, Bahrain may enter the Republic of Albania without visa for the period 1 April to 31 October 2019.

For the citizens from the People’s Republic of China this decision is valid for the period 1 March to 31 October 2019.

Official visit of the President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Ilir Meta to the Republic of Austria


At the invitation of the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, H.E. Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen, President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Ilir Meta paid an official visit to Austria, on 23 October 2018.
H. E. Mr. Meta was received with Military Honors at the Presidential Palace.
After bilateral talks between the Presidents and their delegations, H.E. Dr. Van der Bellen hosted an official lunch for the Albanian Delegation headed by President Ilir Meta.

Bushati – Kneissl: It is clear to our region that Europe is more important than conflicts


On 4th of October, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati welcomed the Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs, Karin Kneissl. The purpose of this visit was to express Austria’s support to Albania and the Western Balkan countries to their prospects for the European Union.

Minister Bushati expressed gratitude to his Austrian counterpart for the continued support that Austria has provided to Albania in the European path, both bilaterally and within the EU Presidency.

The UN General Assembly started yesterday, at 25 September, the proceedings for its 73rd session, under this year’s theme “Making the United Nations Relevant to All People: Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Peaceful, Equitable and Sustainable Societies”. Keeping with tradition, the General Assembly held a plenary session dedicated to peace, ahead of the General Debate.

Albania, Tourism Investment, Summit&Meetings, 26-27 November 2018


The Albania Tourism Investment Summit is the Official Summit for the Albanian Tourism sector, and is set to become the most established annual conference and exhibition around the Albanian and regional Travel and Tourism investment sector.

Travel and tourism is a 1.24 billion dollar industry in Albania and is rapidly growing by 6.2% annually. It is expected to become a 2.1 billion dollar industry by 2028, an indicator of Albania's Tourism Industry's abundant opportunities and beneficial climate for business.

Good evening everyone!

Today is a good day for Albania, for our neighbour Macedonia and certainly for the entire united Europe and the future of the European project. A few minutes ago the Council, more specifically, the Ministers of the European Union Member States decided to respond positively to the recommendation of the European Commission to open the accession negotiations with Albania and Macedonia. The Council has also clearly set a deadline within which the entire preparatory process for the negotiation table will take place.
